Green synthesis of granular activated carbon/zinc ferro nanocomposites-based bioleached laterite iron (BLaFe) for the removal of Rhodamine B in water using adsorption–Fenton's oxidation process

Abstract Novel cost-effective catalyst granular activated carbon (GAC)-based zinc ferro nanocomposites for the heterogeneous Fenton's oxidation of dye were synthesized using bioleached laterite iron (BLFe) as a precursor and Psidium gujava leaf extract. Synthesized characterized SEM, EDS, XRD BET surface area analysis. The degradation Rhodamine was carried out with adsorption–Fenton's process. catalytic role in B (RhB) investigated reported. maximum removal 96.2% observed 64.2% COD within 200 min treatment. An increase nanocomposite dosage has positive effect on marking 5 g/L an optimum dosage. Adsorption studies reveal that RhB BLFe-based GAC/zinc composites fits Freundlich Isotherm model adsorption capacity 47.81 mg/g. A combination resulted higher efficiency material. Reusability confirm spent can be reused five cycles.
